CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
Hi everyone!
This year one of our fundraising strategies is selling fruits and vegetables with Tanaka Farms, this is called Community Supported Agriculture. The way it works is that when your family signs up, a basket of fruits and vegetables is dropped off at thurston on mondays. There are two different sized boxes, large and small. The small box is $20 a week and the large is $30, the best part is, Eco-Club gets 10% of the profits! CSA is eco-friendly because everything is locally grown so there isn't a big carbon foot print, from shipping the produce. Also there are no pesticides used to grow them and every box is re-used or recycled. Tell your parents about it and try to get signed up! The link to the Tanaka farms website is right here: www.tanakafarms.com email us if you would like a registry form, or more information at thurstonecoclub@gmail.com

What Tree?
Hey Eco-club members we are still not sure what tree to plant, and we are running out of time to plant it!! Our first choice was the Royal Empress Tree but it may be too evasive. If you think of any solutions for a fast-growing, drought resistant tree, comment and let us know! Or just come to the next meeting (meetings every tuesday in the drama room). Thanks!!

SAVE THE DOLPHINS!!!!
23,000 dolphins are mercilessly slaughtered every September in one little cove in Taiji, Japan. The dolphins that escape slaughter are sent into captivity in places like Seaworld and other "swim with dolphin" foundations. Dolphins cannot live in captivity. To learn more go to www.takepart.com/thecove or watch the Academy Award winning documentary The Cove. WE NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE!
